You can adjust the multiplicity, root element, and abstract settings of a class in the Profile Editor. When you select a class, the selected class's name will appear in the Class Property Grid at the bottom left of the window, where you can adjust that class's current settings.

You can also adjust the multiplicity setting of any attribute or association. When you select an attribute, its name appears in the lower right Detail Property Grid, where you can adjust that attribute’s multiplicity setting. When you select an association, the association ends will appear in the Detail Property Grid, where you can adjust each association end’s multiplicity setting.

Change the Multiplicity Setting of a Class

With the class selected, click on Multiplicity in the Class Property Grid. This will highlight the row and prompt a drop-down arrow next to the class's current setting. Click the arrow to open the drop-down menu and adjust the class's multiplicity setting.

Once you have changed the class's multiplicity setting, the selected value appears in the Class Property Grid and to the right of the class's name in the left pane.

Change the Root Element Setting of a Class

The root element setting is particularly important if you plan to generate a CIM XSD artifact with your CIM Profile. With the class selected, click on IsRoot in the Class Property Grid. This will highlight the row and prompt a drop-down arrow next to the class's current setting (True or False). Click the arrow to open the drop-down menu and change the root element setting.

If IsRoot is set to True, the selected class is a root element for the CIM Profile. Once you have changed the class's root element setting, the new setting appears next to IsRoot in the Class Property Grid.

Change the Abstract Setting of a Class

With the class selected, click on Abstract in the Class property Grid. This will highlight the row and prompt a drop-down arrow next to the class's current setting (True or False). Click the arrow to open the drop-down menu and adjust the class's abstract setting.

Once you have changed the class's abstract setting, the selected setting appears in the Class Property Grid, and the class name in the Class View changes to italics.

Change the Multiplicity Setting of an Attribute or Association

Select the attribute or association that you wish to modify. In the Detail Property Grid, click on Multiplicity. This will highlight the row and prompt a drop-down arrow next to the attribute or association's current setting. Click the arrow to open the drop-down menu and adjust the multiplicity setting.

The new multiplicity value now appears in brackets to the right of the attribute or association name in the Detail View.
